MANCHESTER RIDGE VINEYARD

The Manchester Ridge Vineyard - Piper Ranch is situated in the remote Mendocino Ridge American Viticulture Area, near the Sonoma County line. Accessible only by timber-flanked logging roads it is situated at an elevation of 2058ft, it offers breathtaking views of the Pacific ocean. 

Planted in 2003, the vineyard spans 19 acres of Pinot Noir (Clones 114, 115, and 777) and 11 acres of Chardonnay (Clones Old Wente, 76, and 809) in primarily Ornbaum soil, with a southern facing aspect. Under the guidance of experienced vineyard consultant Martin Mochizuki, this remarkable vineyard site produces exceptional fruit. The spring weather extremes result in smaller yields, averaging less than 2 tons per acre. Benefiting from early morning sun and maritime breezes that develop in the early afternoon, the fruit ripens slowly, giving rise to structured wines with exotic aromatic profiles, pronounced acidity, and robust tannins.

As the vineyard is situated above the fog line and most frost threats, its ridge top elevation provides a unique environment.The growing conditions at Manchester Ridge Vineyard are as wild as the black bears and other wildlife that inhabit the area.
